On Thursday, November 23rd, the Belmont Marauders Football team faced off with Watertown in their annual Thanksgiving game, resulting in a dramatic 47-0 win. This was a triumphant comeback for the team after last year’s defeat at Fenway.
Tensions and anticipation were high for this game after poor sportsmanship and digital daunting from Watertown succeeded the 2022 game. However, the Marauders successfully turned the tide, securing the most significant victory for either team since 2013 with Watertown, and establishing a record in the 101 years of their rivalry.
Post-game celebrations on the bus were enthusiastic as the team basked in their success. The game featured strong performance across the board, especially for the seniors, many of whom it was their last time stepping onto the turf. Senior co-captains Austin Lasseter, Adrien Gurung, Ryan Halloran, Brian Logan, Bryce Hubbard, and Jayden Arno showcased their skills in various positions.
Beyond the football team, the game was significant for many other student groups, marking the final performance for seniors of the BHS marching band and color guard, as well as the cheer team. During halftime on Victory Field, these groups took center stage to showcase their talent and celebrate their hard work all season.
The team banquet this past Sunday marked the official conclusion of the season. Players gathered to celebrate with awards, food, and customized jackets. The banquet marked the end of a chapter, but also paved the way for new beginnings next year.
Congratulations to the team for a great season with outstanding performance on and off the field!
